Art & Music part 2: Birgitte Vad & Auxilo (aka Janus Nevel Ringsted)
Formation Gallery
04 Dec 2024 – 19 Dec 2024
With the exhibition concept Art & Music, two consecutive short-format exhibitions will explore the intersection between music and art. Musical and concert elements will be integrated into the gallery space at Formation Gallery, where the immediate accessibility of music interacts with contemporary art.
Visual artist Birgitte Vad and songwriter Janus Nevel Ringsted are intertwined as creative souls and as a couple. This duo invites audiences into a playful scenery of music and art.
The Florida Room will immerse you in a technicolor collage of futuristic pop and exotic instruments staged amidst vibrant textile installations. Surrounded by pink sunrises, blurred landscapes, juicy fruits, explosive flowers, and savior-like figures, a temple of contemplation will embrace you, evoking the feel of warmer climates. The Florida Room is both the title of Auxílo’s debut album and the American term for a sunroom—a place to retreat, reflect, and soak in some warmth, momentarily transporting you to Rio de Janeiro, Havana, or Los Angeles, where Janus developed much of his musical identity.
Concerts will take place within an immersive space adorned with Vad’s large-scale fabric works, inspired by The Florida Room and referencing church architecture. This is a place for slowness and deep reflection, offering time for thought and connection. Visitors are invited to move freely through the space, coming close to the performers, or to settle in, listen, observe, and merge with the work—or experience it from a distance.
Opening Reception: December 4, with concerts at 5 PM and 7 PM. Additional concerts: December 5 at 5 PM and 7 PM, and December 6 at 4 PM.
Thank you to Vesterbro Lokaludvalg for kindly supporting the exhibition.
