Kristine Meyer
Biography
Kristine Meyer (b. 1970) works at the intersection of painting and ceramics. Nature—its forces and the ways in which it affects us—is central to her practice and the primary source of her inspiration.
Her paintings reflect landscapes and plant forms that invite calm, presence, and contemplation, while her ceramic works—often evoking organic growth—circle around nature’s energy and its deeper symbolic and spiritual significance. A fundamental force that connects us to the earth and strengthens our relationship to the greater whole of which we are a part.
She works intuitively with materials and colour, and her expression embodies both strength and vulnerability at the same time.
In her work, Kristine Meyer explores what nature can offer us as human beings—not only in a physical sense, but also spiritually and in terms of healing. Her works invite reflection on our connection to the earth and the spiritual resources we can draw from it. Through these explorations, she seeks to open up the strength and healing that emerge when we, as humans, rediscover our lost connection to the earth and acknowledge the significance nature holds. Her work reminds us that we do not merely exist on the earth, but with it—as part of a greater whole that can nourish and heal us.
Kristine Meyer is a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, specialising in glass and ceramics.
Since 2005, she has been part of the design and art duo MeyerLavigne, until she embarked on her solo artistic practice in 2022.
