Kasper Jacek
Biography
In Kasper Jacek’s (b. 1989, DK) collage practice he uses materials to explore fleeting moments – moments where the places we enter, inhabit or move through open themselves up and reveal something to us, moves us or remind us of something, we thought was long forgotten.
In Jacek’s works visual distortion is one of the fundamental metaphors and is understood as a kind of opening to the world, where we see things differently. He, therefore, views his collage works as multi-temporal scenes, where materials, movements, colors, scales, and figuration/non-figuration intertwine and unravel, exploring distorted landscapes or places in which myths, old objects, memories and possible futures are all haunting the present simultaneously.
Kasper Jacek is a self-taught artist based in Odder/Aarhus, Denmark. His artistic work is a continuation of his academic and journalistic work on the subject of place, working with the history of places, the mythologies and memories bound to certain places – and exploring new ways to tell stories about the objects we surround ourselves with.
